Digital Matching System (DMS)

University Photography - Lawrence, Ks
Gradfoto - Norman, Ok
FreezeFrameFoto - Phoenix, Az

This project began in October 2001 and has been through several major revisions and enhancements since then. Most recently it has been converted to a .Net Windows and a redesigned Web application. The customers (commercial photographers) use this software to match photos to participants at events. For example an event might be a graduation with as many as 800 graduate.

This application allows the customer to import a list of participants and match them against their photos. Once matched the application generates forms for mailing and emails copy of the proofs to the participants. The participant can order via a web site or call in their order. The application electronically transmits their order to the Lab for fulfillment.

The application tracks the order and gives the customer several reports for tracking sales.

Plaque Production System (PPS) for the American Picture Man, Inc.

This project begin in October of 2004 and was completed in April of 2005. It is currently under proposal for enhancement and web site redesign.

APM makes plaques for over 30 commercial photographers. They process nearly 25,000 plaques during April through July of each year. A plaque goes through a 5 step assembly process. This application uses bar code technology to track progress and when it is shipped. The application includes a web interface that allows the photographer to view this 5 step process real time. At the end of the day, the application generates invoices to each studio that had plaques shipped for that day.

A major improvement brought about by this application was a change to the business process. Previously the studio placed orders for the photo that was to go onto the plaque to their Lab. Once the photo was received by the studio, it was then sent to APM for making the plaque. Now plaque orders are electronically pulled from the Lab and the photo is sent to directly to APM from the lab. This has saved nearly 10 days per plaque. Additionally, the studio no longer has to prepare a hardcopy list of plaque orders -- a process that took several hours a day.
